Who Should Attend The Certificate Program?
FAI’s Certificate Programs are appropriate for students who are:
•Currently employed in the field of substance abuse or mental health treatment and pursuing career advancement or skill enhancement.
•Licensed professionals under Florida Statutes 458, 459, 490 & 491 seeking to enhance their existing private practice and marketability. (Special program for LCSW's, LMFT's, & LMHC's, psychologists and physicians).
•Currently employed in substance abuse prevention, anti-drug coalitions, schools, law enforcement, etc. and pursuing career advancement or skill enhancement.
•Seeking to enter the field of substance abuse treatment or prevention.

Courses are held evenings and occasional weekends, at Healthpark Medical Center.
FAI Certification
Florida Addictions Institute is a non-profit 501(c)3 operated by the Lee County Coalition for a Drug Free Southwest Florida, an approved provider (FCB #5022-A) of training which fulfills both initial education requirements and continuing education requirements of the Florida Certification Board for Addiction Professionals.

Florida Addictions Institute instructors are experts in their fields who are selected for their extensive knowledge and experience, as well as their ability to communicate ideas effectively to students.
Career Placement
Florida Addictions Institute staff will work with students to assist them in fulfilling Florida Certification Board’s work experience requirement by maintaining a job bank of current listings.
What's Required?
Although a college degree is not necessary, students often have degrees or are already licensed counselors. For all students, FAI requires:
- Commitment to an 10-12 month course of study
- English proficiency (Classes conducted in English)
- For recovering students, at least three years of freedom from chemical use problems
